Skills and Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification (or final year) in urban design, landscape architecture, architecture or a related discipline
• An understanding of current urban design principles with a strong design flair
• High level graphic and computer literacy skills including the Adobe creative suite, 3D modelling programs, CAD and GIS mapping
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Capacity to positively contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture.

Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Urban Designer looking to take a next step in their career, to join our Urban Design and Place team.

• Provide project support for urban design and place-based projects
• Assist with the provision of urban design advice on planning applications
• Undertake research and analysis to inform urban design projects and initiatives
• Prepare high quality graphic and visual communication, reports and correspondence
Kingston is one of the most diverse municipalities in Melbourne – with a development landscape comprising of major activity centres, State significant urban renewal sites and transformative infrastructure projects.

With unprecedented public and private investment occurring across our city, you will have an opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience in urban design and creating places for people. You’ll also be an important contributor to Council’s design response to city shaping projects including the State Government’s Suburban Rail Loop Project, implementation of Council’s adopted Structure Plans and planning for major urban renewal sites.

The Urban Design and Place team works dynamically across all areas and levels of the organisation, providing exposure to the breadth of community-focussed projects delivered by Council.
