• You have an affinity with agricultural innovation and/or water management.
• You are interested in the intersection between sustainability, agriculture, and inequality.
• You have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• You can work in a self-propelled manner and are excited about working in interdisciplinary and international teams.
• You have experience with qualitative research methods.
• You have experience with conducting fieldwork independently, preferably in India.

Experience• You have a (Research) Master's degree in Science and Technology Studies, Innovation Studies, Anthropology, Rural Sociology or a related discipline.

Organisation Details

The Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University is offering a fully financed 4-year Ph.D. position on just transitions to climate-resilient agriculture. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Ph.D. candidate with a background in Science and Technology Studies (STS), Innovation Studies, Anthropology, Rural Sociology, or a related field.

Job Description

You will be offered a temporary position (0.8 – 1.0 FTE), initially for one year with an extension to a total of four years upon a successful assessment in the first year, and with the specific intent that it results in a doctorate within this period. The gross salary ranges between €2,443 in the first year and €3,111 in the fourth year of employment (scale P according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employee. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year. In addition, Utrecht University offers excellent secondary conditions, including an attractive retirement scheme, (partly paid) parental leave and flexible employment conditions (multiple choice model).
