Job Description

The appointee will work in a cross-disciplinary team in HKU, modelling the internal systems of cities and linking these to the dynamics of the entire city systems. He/She will investigate, test and develop urban scaling hypothesis in multiple domains, with an emphasis on economy and health, and work with large data sets from China, USA, and Europe. The appointee will also assist in developing a comprehensive urban scaling data set for China and work with urban planners, spatial data scientists, economists and complexity scientists to publish models and advance theory on China’s urban systems dynamics and evolution. He/She is also expected to work closely with team members on existing data, and develop his/her own research ideas within the context of this agenda. The appointee will be encouraged to develop links with partner urban research groups (e.g. University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University College London and University of Chicago).
