Skills and Qualifications

• Post-graduate degree in Planning/Urban Planning and Development/Urban Policy/Disaster Risk & Resilience/Sustainable Development or equivalent Social Sciences qualification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (preferable).
• Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience in the urban sector with a focus on resilience/disaster management (including research, policy, project design, project costing/financing, M&E).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to write analytical reports clearly and swiftly.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement, including municipal authorities and parastatal institutions.
• Flexible, professional, self-driven, team-oriented, and able to work under tight deadlines.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

ExperienceAt least 6 years of relevant professional experience in urban resilience/disaster risk management, research, policy, and project development.
SalaryCompetitive compensation (dependent on experience) and benefits package.

• Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) is a global research and advisory organization focusing on tracking and enabling finance for climate-positive sectors. • With offices worldwide (San Francisco headquarters, Brazil, Europe, India, Indonesia, Kenya, and the US), CPI covers energy transition, industrial decarbonization, AFOLU (Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use), adaptation, resilience, and green finance. • CPI serves as Secretariat for the Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA), aiming to bridge the climate finance gap for urban infrastructure worldwide.

Job Description

• Anchor CPI India’s urban resilience and disaster risk management work, identifying new concepts and areas of intervention.
• Conduct research and gather primary/secondary data to inform policy and financial solutions.
• Engage with urban local bodies, municipal authorities, parastatal institutions, and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Develop knowledge collaterals (policy papers, reports, blogs) and create proposals/presentations for funders/stakeholders.
• Organize forums and workshops focused on financing solutions for urban heat resilience, disaster resilience, and green buildings.
• Coordinate with CPI teams across global offices to ensure knowledge sharing and synergy.
• Report on program deliverables according to grant agreements.
