Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, human settlements, architecture, social sciences, development studies, or climate change/disaster risk reduction

Experience• Minimum 6 years of experience in community mobilization, housing/shelter, risk reduction, or climate change • Experience with community-based assessments and fieldwork in Cambodia • Knowledge of informal settlements, participatory planning, and shelter issues • Strong communication and report-writing skills in English, Chinese, and Khmer • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with architectural software is an asset • Willingness to stay on-site in Sihanoukville during project implementation
SalaryLump-sum, output-based payments distributed in 3 installments: 30%: Inception report by 31 July 2025 40%: Summary data collection report by 30 September 2025 30%: Final report and completion workshop by 30 December 2025 (Total payment based on qualification and experience per UN rules)

Job Description

The Research Associate will support the implementation of a preparatory study on informal settlements in Preah Sihanouk. Responsibilities include:

• Participating in the WPDI fact-finding mission
• Supporting training sessions and conducting field surveys
• Preparing and disseminating reports and lessons learned
• Coordinating with community stakeholders and the Habitat Programme Manager (HPM)
• Staying on-site in Sihanoukville during project operations
• Supporting project documentation, translation (Khmer-English/Chinese), and organizing events
