The rue du Molinel does not reveal at first glance the hidden, hidden or forgotten secrets that it possesses. Its sinuous layout, the variable geometry of its grip as well as its evolving architectural spreading, nevertheless give it a singular identity.
The rue du Molinel stands out as a structuring segment of the viaire frame, at the crossroads between the heterogeneous city in the north and the park city in the south. It plays an essential role as a link between the changing city and the ordered city of the nineteenth century, marked by the Place de la République and the Palais des Beaux-Arts.
The requalification of the rue du Molinel therefore offers real opportunities to highlight the architectural heritage, but also to sew between the different districts marked by the contrasting urban eras of the city of Lille.
A 3-axis strategy has therefore been developed to respond to this observation.
- Extending the policy of pedestrianization and appeasement of public space
- Improving well-being through the reintroduction of nature in the city
- Revitalizing public space to strengthen commercial and tourist attractiveness
