Skills and Qualifications

An advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent and above) in the field of arts and culture, heritage studies, cultural industries, development studies, architecture or related professional areas, with a sub-specialization related to conservation if possible.

Experience

Professional Work experience:
• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience in the field of culture and creativity, of which at least five years acquired at the regional/international level.
• Proven experience in implementing and coordinating multi-country project.
• Proven track record in fundraising and building partnerships.

Skills and Competencies:
• Knowledge of Asia-Pacific and Southeast Asia culture and heritage issues
• Proven conceptual and analytical skills
• Effective planning and organizing ability
• Capacity to follow up and coordinate independently with minimal supervision
• Proven ability to work efficiently in a dynamic and multicultural team environment
• Excellent coordination and interpersonal skills
• Proven capacity to build and maintain effective partnerships inside and outside the organization
• Ability to work under pressure

Organisation Details

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Office in Bangkok is seeking a culture specialist to contribute to culture programme areas related to built heritage, urban heritage, cultural and creative industries, particularly in providing technical support and strengthening national capacity among Member States.

Job Description

Deliverable and Timeframe

1. Partner mapping and proposed scope for expanding CCIs programmes by 28 Feb 2023
2. Partner mapping and proposed scope for urban heritage/HUL programmes by 31 March 2023
3. Proposal for expanding capacity building and knowledge management based on UNESCO Heritage Awards programme, including TOR for online portal development and course outlines for technical masterclasses within the Competence Framework by 30 April 2023
4. Partner mapping and proposed scope for arts / heritage education programmes by 31 May 2023
5. Southeast Asian UCH capacity building programme by 30 June 2023
6. Southeast Asian UCH capacity building draft report by 31 July 2023
7. Suite of concept notes by 31 August 2023
8. Draft project documents/proposals by 30 September 2023
9. Draft project documents/proposals by 31 October 2023
10. Progress summary and way forward of 2005/CCI activities by 30 November 2023
11. Progress summary and way forward for urban heritage and built heritage activities by 31 December 2023

Duty station: Bangkok, Thailand with missions to be determined
