Qualifications and Education
1. Postgraduate degree at PhD level in Urban Design or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
2. An established expertise and proven portfolio of research in the field of Urban Design commensurate with the candidate's career stage.
3. Teaching experience in Urban Design at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
4. Knowledge of current status of research in specialist field.
5. Proven ability to publish in academic journals and/or other research outputs.
6. Knowledge and understanding of competitive research funding. To be able to develop applications to funding bodies.
7. Ability to contribute to the delivery and continued development of modules in Urban Design.

Pastoral, Communication and Team Working
8. Proven ability in effective and persuasive communication with students and professional/academic staff.
9. The ability to provide appropriate pastoral support to students, appreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances and to act as a personal tutor.
10. Excellent skills in relation to Urban Design processes and methods.

Desirable Criteria

11. Relevant professional qualification(s).
12. Evidence of experience in professional practice related to the design, planning and development of the built environment.
13. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
14. Proven ability to adapt to the changing requirements of the Higher Education community.
15. Evidence of ability to participate in and develop both internal and external networks and utilise them to enhance the teaching and research activities of the School.
16. A willingness to take responsibility for academically related administration.
