Skills and Qualifications

Advanced degree in urban planning and development, disaster risk management or similar field with at least 8 years' experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience• Lead policy dialogue and the development of urban disaster and climate resilience projects and programs ot at least one of the SAR countries • Lead/co-lead/participate in strategy development and work with task teams to support the preparation and supervision/support of implementation of lending operations and programs • Lead/co-lead/participate in task teams to develop and carry out cutting edge analytical activities on urban service delivery, climate smart cities, capacity building • Develop new business opportunities on cities with focus on building resilience to climate change • Contribute to dialogue and provide technical inputs for the preparation of sectoral and country strategy documents • Contribute to knowledge sharing, dissemination and awareness raising activities on urban resilience, climate smart city development; and contribute specific knowledge with client countries, Country Management Units, and Global Practices.

Organisation Details

The World Bank Group serves eight client countries in the South Asia Region, home to nearly 1.8 billion people. Clients range from large rapidly growing sophisticated middle-income countries to IDA countries to fragile and small island and landlocked states. Over the past few years, work has focused on the response to the COVID-19 crisis. In FY22, the region delivered $10.7 billion in financing for client countries and a wide range of ASAs and engagements with countries. The focus for the post-pandemic recovery lies on economic recovery and prudent fiscal and debt management; private sector expansion and job creation; climate resilience and improving human capital. The region will continue to support progress on structural reforms and invest in inclusion, gender equality, productive jobs, climate resilience and digital economy.
