Organisation Details
This PhD position is part of FLASH, a multi-partner NWO-funded project addressing peri-urban vulnerabilities in Bangladesh. You will be based at Khulna University, a leader in sustainable research with deep community engagement. You’ll also spend 15 months at IHS, Erasmus University Rotterdam, a global centre of urban expertise.
Job Description
1. Develop and implement a PhD research proposal aligned with FLASH goals
2. Design and operate a Living Lab in peri-urban Bangladesh with community co-creation
3. Analyse informal housing typologies using field data, spatial methods, and architectural tools
4. Apply the 5As framework: Availability, Accessibility, Affordability, Acceptability, Adaptability
5. Investigate policy, planning, and governance dimensions of informal development
6. Engage with stakeholders (LGI, policymakers, community leaders)
7. Translate findings into design concepts and policy recommendations
8. Publish in international journals and complete your PhD at Erasmus University Rotterdam
