Skills and Qualifications

1. Advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) in environmental sciences, public administration, social sciences, or a related area.
2. Minimum of five years of experience in project management, climate change adaptation, sustainable development, disaster risk reduction, or urban planning.
3. Experience in disaster risk reduction in Southeastern Europe is desirable.
4. Familiarity with UNDRR's Disaster Resilience Scorecard for Cities is desirable.

Organisation Details

UNDRR was created in December 1999 and is the designated focal point in the United Nations for disaster risk reduction coordination efforts. UNDRR supports global, regional, and local disaster reduction efforts and is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. It works closely with local governments through initiatives like MCR2030 to build resilience in cities worldwide.

Job Description

Continuation of support for cities that have completed the MCR2030 scorecard assessment, including follow-up and financing efforts for disaster risk reduction initiatives.
Work with cities in Southeastern Europe to conduct resilience assessments, support the development of DRR strategies, and engage with the MCR2030 network for peer learning and advocacy.
