Skills and Qualifications

• Enrolled in graduate program or final year of undergraduate degree
• Field of study in economics, environmental sciences, development studies, international relations, or related
• Strong understanding of climate change and global policy processes
• Excellent research, writing, and note-taking skills
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
• Ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments
• Knowledge of additional UN languages is an advantage
• Skills in data analysis, communications, or design tools are desirable

Experience

• Academic or research experience in climate change or policy-related fields
• Experience in communications, social media, or knowledge products is an advantage

Organisation Details

UNFCCC is the United Nations body responsible for supporting global climate agreements including the Paris Agreement. The Adaptation Division focuses on climate resilience, national adaptation plans, and global adaptation strategies through international collaboration and policy development.

Job Description

• Conduct research and literature reviews on climate adaptation topics
• Support development of reports, knowledge products, and communication materials
• Assist in updating web content and outreach materials
• Participate in meetings, workshops, and negotiations support
• Support data processing and adaptation-related reporting
• Assist in stakeholder engagement and policy documentation
• Contribute to technical work across adaptation units including global adaptation goals and reporting
