Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field (or equivalent experience.)
• 3 to 5 years of experience working with NEPA and CEQA.
• Expertise with environmental planning skills.
• Knowledge of relevant environmental laws, permitting requirements, notification and compliance practices, and applicable Regional/State/Federal regulatory framework.
• Experienced working on a variety of environmental analyses and documentation types.
• Expertise with consulting practices and preparation of associated documentation.
• Possess strong communication skills, a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and positive attitude.
• Proficiency with technical and business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
• Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
• This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
• Extensive critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from data collation and identify the most effective solutions to accomplish objectives of assigned projects.
• Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree is preferred.
• Essential professional licensure/certification.
• Active member of local, regional, or national professional environmental planning organization.

Job Description

• Technical writing and report preparation including leading a variety of planning studies related to siting, planning such as feasibility studies/critical issues analyses, state and federal level compliance documentation, risk identification and risk management strategies.
• Develop correspondence and prepare or review reports for project activities including technical reports and other analyses reports, applications, meeting summaries, and other analyses, reports, and memorandums.
• Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting analytic and written data from multidisciplinary teams
• Developing strong working relationships with a variety of clients, teaming partners and other WSP staff.
• Work with project managers, task managers, project team technical leads, subconsultants, and other disciplines such as planning, siting, engineering, and construction management team members.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
