Skills and Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Experience with computational modelling, simulation, or digital design tools
• Programming skills such as Python, C#, or web technologies
• Strong interest in AI, digital twins, and urban design innovation
• Ability to work in interdisciplinary research environments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Fluency in English (C1 level)
• Dutch language proficiency is an advantage

Experience

• Experience in computational design, simulation, or digital modelling workflows
• Exposure to AI-based analysis or data-driven design methods preferred
• Experience in participatory design or stakeholder engagement is beneficial
• Academic or research experience in urban design, architecture, or related domains
• Interdisciplinary collaboration experience is advantageous

Salary€3,059 – €3,881 per month (as per Dutch University standards)

Job Description

• Develop digital twin models of living lab neighborhoods
• Design computational tools for inclusive neighborhood planning and design
• Apply AI-enabled methods to analyze accessibility and spatial conditions
• Integrate spatial data, environmental sensing, and behavioral insights
• Prototype socio-spatial interventions addressing mobility and social participation
• Conduct participatory design processes with residents and stakeholders
• Evaluate and refine interventions through iterative design cycles
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within the ELLI project
• Publish research outputs in academic journals and conferences
• Support municipalities and planners with digital tools for inclusive environments
