Skills and Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Urbanism, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field
• Experience or strong interest in co-design, participatory methods, or Urban Living Labs
• Proficiency in spatial modelling and/or microclimate analysis tools (e.g., ENVI-met, GIS)
• Excellent written and spoken English skills
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary and international teams
• Willingness to conduct research visits in Brazil

Experience

• Academic or research experience in urban design, landscape, or planning-related fields
• Experience in collaborative or interdisciplinary research projects preferred
• Familiarity with Global South contexts is advantageous
• Knowledge of Portuguese or Dutch is beneficial
• Experience in health-related urban research or environmental psychology is a plus

Salary€3,059 – €3,881 per month (as per Dutch University standards)

Job Description

• Conduct research on urban heat mitigation through green infrastructure interventions
• Co-design and evaluate spatial solutions for climate-adaptive urban environments
• Develop and test a Health-Heat (HH) toolkit integrating design, participation, and evaluation
• Assess microclimate performance including temperature reduction and shading impacts
• Evaluate health and wellbeing outcomes associated with spatial interventions
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the Netherlands and Brazil
• Participate in Urban Living Labs and field-based research environments
• Contribute to academic outputs including publications and research reports
• Engage with school communities to develop and maintain green commons
• Support evidence-based design through integration of climate and health data
